Our three-day MOE-funded Year 4-8 Structured Literacy workshop with Liz Kane Literacy Facilitators will give your teachers an understanding of the Science of Learning, Science of Reading and Structured Literacy which underpin this pedagogy.

About the Event
What's Covered:
The Science of Learning – Cognitive Load Theory and Explicit Teaching
Principles and Elements of Structured Literacy
Teaching spelling with The Code, including accelerating students with Catch-Up Lists
Whole class reading integrated with teaching vocabulary and knowledge
Teaching older struggling readers with a scope and sequence and decodable stories as a bridge to reading with their peers
Practising fluency
Teachers are taught a new Oral Reading
Fluency assessment
Teaching Writing with a Scope and Sequence – demonstrations with The Writing Revolution and Syntax Project
Finally, teachers experience a Literacy Block for an hour and a half of literacy teaching
Morning Tea is provided each day.
