No mystery too big, no Op too wild! Learn to read and read to learn with Wild Detectives decodable fiction and nonfiction.

Wild Detectives is a playful series of adventure-packed decodable stories and linked nonfiction decodable books written by the award-winning author Louise Park and illustrated by the talented Jules Faber (WierDo series illustrator).

Following the Little Learners Love Literacy® explicit and cumulative phonics sequence, these whacky detective adventures featuring a gang of furry friends (Cam the alpaca, Pat the cat, Top Rat and Dog Bot) are hilariously fun decodable books that children will want to read.

Each stage consists of a combination of three fiction and two nonfiction titles. A progression of Tier 2 or ‘interesting’ vocabulary is used across fiction and nonfiction contexts to build comprehension.

Stage 2 phonemes and graphemes: b h n o d g l v; Heart words: the my I.

Once children have been explicitly taught the eight Stage 2 letters and sounds (and Heart Words), they can start reading these five exciting Wild Detective books.

  • Book 2 (fiction)- Pat Is In
  • Book 3 (fiction)-In the Bog!
