Adrienne
Meet
Introducing Adrienne Kinder.
As an educator and Ministry of Education PLD facilitator, Adrienne works with teachers nationwide to grow and sustain the Structured Literacy approach by developing teacher knowledge and pedagogy to raise literacy outcomes for all students.
Like Liz, Adrienne began her career teaching all year levels. And while she may have only kicked off workshops in 2022 with Liz Kane Literacy, Adrienne’s commitment dates back to 2016. Conversations with Liz on how to help struggling students has been a constant over the years.
Adrienne advanced her knowledge with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education centred on the Science of Reading that underpins teaching with a Structured Literacy approach.
She has been co-admin of the Structured Literacy Auckland Facebook group, and, prior to working with Liz Kane Literacy, presented to many teachers across Auckland at an organised “unconference” where 200 teachers gathered to learn about Structured Literacy and attended workshops to see this approach in action.
Calm, positive, and always willing to help, Adrienne is an avid podcast listener and continues to broaden her industry-related knowledge and often enters deep discussions with Liz about the latest research, reports and updates within schools.
“Children’s wellbeing must be at the forefront of our reflections and decision making when it comes to teaching them,” says Adrienne.
“Our pedagogy is often based on instincts, or a romantic vocational ideology - what we are used to, or what we think might work.”
“We should engage with research and think critically about our teaching and what research informs our practice.”
"Our children's wellbeing must be at the forefront of our reflections and decision making when it comes to teaching them"
